Climate & Clothing
Your hunt will most likely take
place during Africa’s winter. Although the winters in Africa are considered
pretty mild the mornings and evenings can be cold. April to August will average
between 35°F/ 3°C – 80°F/ 27°C.
We use open-air pick-up trucks for
hunting, so driving around in the mornings and late evenings can be chilly. If
you are hunting leopard, it is advisable to bring heavier jackets for sitting
in the blind in the evenings, the jacket should be warm and made out of a
silent material that will not alert the leopard to our presence when moving in
the blind.
We recommend clothing in dark olive
green, dull green or khaki colours. Camo clothes are fine for hunting but not recommended. We also suggest bring hunting clothes of a durable material as we have numerous thorn bushes that will easily shred through light-weight clothing.
When hunting in Mozambique it is important to note that you are allowed to bring “real tree” type camo but it is against Mozambican law for an ordinary citizen to wear military style camouflage.
When hunting either in South Africa or Mozambique a daily laundry service is provided so it is unnecessary to bring too many clothes. When bringing hunting boots, we recommend that you bring a soft soled boot that is comfortable and that has been worn on numerous occasions. This will help prevent against blisters. You can also bring some comfortable clothes for evenings around the camp fire.
